In ST it is possible to declare function block instances as local →variable, →input variable, →output variable, →in-out variable, →global variable or →external variable. The ST-syntax for function block instances is listed under "Declaration of function block instances in ST".
Moreover, it is possible to declare a function block instance as structure element of a →structured data type.

Function block instances are automatically created in →FBD or →LD, when the →call of a function block is created.
